St. John Catholic School in Arthur Donates $735 to the Arthur Lion’s Club Hamper Drive

St. John Catholic School in Arthur contributed over $700 to the Arthur Lion’s Club Hamper Drive.

Operating to support local families at Christmas, the school ran their annual Christmas Hamper program for the month of December.

“St John School has been helping with the Christmas Hamper program for years, and this year, when the Lions Club contacted us with a request for Arthur Foodland gift cards, we jumped into action,” said Lynda Herbert, secretary at St. John Catholic School.

After shifting their contribution from the traditional Christmas Hamper program to online donations and gift cards, the St. John Catholic School community wanted to showcase their support with tangible representation.

“Students in Mr. Chisholm's Grade 6/7 class made ornaments for the Christmas tree, beautiful toques and angels, and for every family that makes a donation, an ornament is hung on the tree.  Outside the office, we update the amount of donations daily which the students enjoy,” explained Herbert.

While this year’s campaign may have looked a little different, there was no lack of support for the community.

“This program is vital for many in our community, and St John Arthur is a generous school community that helps out whenever they can,” praised Herbert. “We collected $735.00 for the Christmas Hamper program…way to go Jaguars!”
